Chemical Peeling

Chemical peeling is a procedure performed to purify the skin from dead cells. It is beneficial in terms of removing sunspots, wrinkles, acne scars, controlling the moisture and oil balance of the skin. The upper layers of the skin are peeled off with various chemical substances in a controlled manner, and a new skin layer is formed from below. Peeling is effective on the structure and color of the skin. It provides a younger and healthier appearance. Various agents can also be used for the chemical peeling process. Chemical peeling application is classified as superficial, medium and deep according to the depth of the peeling process. Chemical peeling is done by applying the active substance to the skin. Generally, substances such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, jessner’s solution and trichloroacetic acid are used. The concentration of the chemical substance, the duration and the number of sessions are adjusted according to the patient’s age, skin type, gender, and the area to be applied.

The average number of sessions is 6-7 in superficial peelings. The session interval varies depending on the peeling method and the patient. Medications and/or cosmetic products added by the doctor before and after the procedure increase the effectiveness.

It can be applied in the treatment of blemishes, removal of fine and medium wrinkles, alleviation of acne and acne scars, correction of porous skin structure and general skin rejuvenation. After the application, the skin should be protected from the sun and the crusts formed should not be peeled.
