1- Nose aesthetics can be done at any age.
While there is a lower age limit for rhinoplasty, there is no upper age limit. After the completion of bone cartilage development in young people, rhinoplasty can be performed. Nose development in girls is faster than in boys. Rhinoplasty is performed after the age of 16 in girls and after the age of 17-18 in boys.
2- A nose that has undergone rhinoplasty does not look natural.
A nose with rhinoplasty may look natural. However, the patient’s expectations and the physician’s aesthetic perception play an important role here. A healthy and beautiful nose; It is a functional nose that is compatible with the face shape, can respond to the skin type and expectations of the patient, is aesthetically beautiful as well as breathing.
3- Nose aesthetic surgery is a very painful operation.
The first two days of rhinoplasty are painful. However, there is no pain during the whole process. Patients who have surgery usually do not feel the need to use painkillers after the first two days. Therefore, we cannot call rhinoplasty surgery a painful operation.
4- There is no improvement in breathing when rhinoplasty is performed.
The most common causes of nasal congestion are the deviation of the septum, which consists of bone and cartilage that separates the right and left nasal halves and swelling in the nasal concha that accompany allergic or non-allergic rhinitis. With nasal aesthetic surgery, if there are problems such as deviation of the septum in the nose or swelling in the nasal concha, all of them are corrected with the same surgery. In surgeries performed on a crooked nose, there is already a curvature in the structures inside the nose. The curvature outside the nose cannot be corrected without correcting the inside of the nose.
5- Even if the tip of the nose is lifted after the rhinoplasty, it falls off again.
Applications performed by considering the support points of the nose do not allow complications such as falling or collapsing in the nose. A well-planned and well-performed rhinoplasty surgery is an important process that succeeds in increasing the patient’s quality of life and helps them achieve a healthier and more functional nose. The main thing here is the implementation of the operations in correct and reliable hands.
6- Nose aesthetic surgery is not performed in summer.
There is no harm in performing rhinoplasty operation in summer. However, after the surgery, the person should protect their nose from sunlight for 1-1.5 months. With tanning, the skin color of the surgical area may change. In surgeries performed in the summer months, the person should use sunscreen with a protection factor of 30 and wear a hat. Patients should not use sunglasses or prescription glasses for a while.
7- If the open method is chosen in rhinoplasty surgery, the scar will remain.
In terms of nasal tip scarring, open technique rhinoplasty is disadvantageous compared to the closed technique. In open technique rhinoplasty, a small V-shaped or W-shaped incision is made at the lower end of the nose. An incision is made in the nostril and the nose skin is lifted and the operation is performed. After the operation, the incision is sutured with very thin needles aesthetically. The incision heals within a few weeks. On the other hand, over time the traces become blurred. If there are no problems with the operation or healing process, there will be no visible scars. This will not disturb the patient.
8- The most difficult part of rhinoplasty is the removal of tampons.
It is not obligatory to put a tampon after rhinoplasty. However, at the end of the surgery, the silicone leaves that are placed inside the nose and have an air gap are both thin and do not prevent the patient from breathing thanks to the air gap. The reason for putting these leaves is to support the structures inside for a while and to act as a preventative against the possibility of bleeding. I prefer to put silicone sheets that I reshape in my own cases. These silicone sheets are not difficult to remove.
